Doris Caldwell

Doris Loraine White Caldwell, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at RoseCrest Nursing Home-Inman. Born June 3, 1924, in Dyersburg, TN, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Jessie McClain White, and widow of Malcolm Boyd Caldwell. Mrs. Caldwell was an avid traveler and active member of The Republican Women's Organization. She was the co-owner of Southeastern Printing, a member of St. James United Methodist Church, and in retirement she became a self-taught watercolor artist. Survivors include her sons, Terry B. Caldwell (Brenda) of Jacksonville, FL, and Jan R. Caldwell (Toni) of Moore, SC; granddaughters, Alison Blake (Chip) of Winchester, VA, Page Connelly (Tommy) of Atlanta, GA, Ashley Caldwell, and Courtney King (Bryan), all of Moore, SC; six great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Larue White of Sonoma, CA. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Charles C. White. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 24, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Gareth D. Scott. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 Lanford Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
