Doris Bridges

Doris Stephens Dills Bridges, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, June 20, 2015 in her home. Born March 16, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Barry Brewington and Sunie Ione Poteat Stephens. She was also predeceased by her first husband, John Eugene Dills. Mrs. Bridges was retired as a telephone operator from Southern Bell. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the National Daylily Association. She was a long-time member of Beaumont Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Bobby Dean Bridges of the home; son, John Wesley Dills (Karen) of Moncks Corner, SC; stepsons, Curtis Graham Bridges, and Kenneth Gregg Bridges (Robin), both of Spartanburg, SC; stepdaughter, Kelly Leigh Stewart (Matt) of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Sloane Chinners (Chad) of Hanahan, SC; grandson, Conor Dills (Katie) of Moncks Corner, SC; great grandson, Hudson Chinners of Hanahan, SC; granddaughter, Jessica Magarity of Greenville, SC; sister, JoAnn Vess (Jack) of Gaffney, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved daughter-in-law, who was like a daughter, Donna Dills of Gaffney, SC and her two children. She was also predeceased by a son, Donald Brian Dills; two brothers, Ray Stephens and Mike Stephens; and a sister, Shirley Stephens. Visitation will be 1:00 - 1:45 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Rupert Guest. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
