Doris McKinney Bennett, 94, of the Cannons Campground Community of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday morning, December 13, 2024. Doris was born on September 14, 1930, in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Emma Doris Norris McKinney and Albert T. McKinney, Sr. She was married to the late Walter Carlisle Bennett for 46 years until his passing in 1994.
Doris was a longtime, faithful member of Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church, was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, and was a retired cosmetologist having operated Doris Bennett’s Beauty Shop for nearly fifty years.
Surviving is her daughter, Dianne Moore; her granddaughters, Paige Biggs (Brian) and Holly Jolley (Philip); five grandchildren, Haley Petty, Angelica Bowlds (Nick), Hannah Murphy (Levi), Ashley Berry (Josh) and Cole Jolley, her great-great-grandchild, River Berry; and many loving nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her son-in-law, Lewis Moore; and her siblings, Faye Dunagin, Clyde McKinney, Albert McKinney, and J. Henry McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Philip Jolley, Mr. Cole Jolley, and Rev. Jim Johnston. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at her home.
