Donnie Ray Davis, 68, of Spartanburg, died Friday, September 14, 2012. Born May 21, 1944, in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late A. B. and Mabel Proffitt Davis. He was owner and operator of Davis Automotive and a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Donnie graduated from Fairforest High School and attended Furman University. He took great joy in fishing and hunting, was an avid fan of the Clemson University Tigers, and was a former crew chief for NASCAR driver, Marty Robbins. Survivors include daughters, Kimberly Davis Ratchford of Blacksburg, SC and Jennifer Davis Johnson and husband Jason of Spartanburg; grandson, Ryan Ratchford of Blacksburg; and Jennifer's mother, Patricia Davis Cole. He was predeceased by his sister, Maxine Davis Morrison; his brother, Charles A. Davis; and Kimberly's mother, Lynn Roper Davis. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
