Donald Valley

Donald S. Valley, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at his residence. Born July 7, 1936 in Wade, Maine, he was the son of the late Edwin Stanley and Helen Gregg Valley.

Mr. Valley earned his Masters from The University of Michigan and his undergraduate from Bob Jones University. Donald was an ordained Minister, Christian Counselor and a Professor of Choral Music. Donald taught at Limestone College, Hillsdale College and served as the Southeastern President of the Piano Technicians Guild. Donald was a member of Free Chapel Spartanburg.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Hughey Valley; his children, Deena Spradlin (Ronnie Wilson) of Boiling Springs, SC, Ingrid Phillips (Dwight) of Arden, NC, Gentry Valley (Christine) of Canton, MI, and Beverly Henderson (Mike) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Will Crosby (Brittany), Chelsea McLeod (John), Meagan McLeod (Jason), Ethan Spradlin (Brittany), Jared Phillips (Casey), Maddie Demmel (Ross), Gabriel Valley (Tori), and Dorian Valley; 13 great grandchildren; and siblings, Gerard Valley (Beverly), Christine Bird, Belva Prine (Edward) and Naida Seely (Robert). Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Duane Valley.

The family will receive friends at 9:30 AM Friday, March 18, 2022 at Free Chapel, 500 Evangel Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. A Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM at the church.
