Donald Clyde Ussery, 91, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born December 25, 1922, in Rockingham, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Roy and Maggie Estelle McRae Ussery. A U. S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, Mr. Ussery was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and loved singing in the choir. Among survivors are his brothers and sisters, Darrell Ussery (Carolyn) of Charlotte, NC, Sara Childers of Alpharetta, GA, Edith Farmer (Don) of Albuquerque, NM, Ira Ussery (Doris) of Greenville, SC, and Keith Ussery of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Christine Nichols of Spartanburg, SC; brother-in-law, George Hunter of Spartanburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
