Donald Thomas

Donald Lee Thomas, 76, of Pauline, SC, died Monday, May 1, 2017, at his home. Born January 4, 1941, in Fort Myers, FL, he was the son of the late Morris and Laverna Mace Thomas. Dr. Thomas enjoyed gardening and loved his dogs. He was a 1959 graduate of Fort Myers High School and 1965 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. He taught at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic from 1973-1986, was in private practice from 1966 until his death, and also served as Clinic Director of Sherman College from 1975-1980. Professional memberships and accreditations include Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Association State of Florida, Diplomat Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a member of Pi Kappa Chi Fraternity of Palmer College of Chiropractic, as well as a member of the Spartanburg Optimist Club. Dr. Thomas was the honored recipient of the 1976 Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic Chiropractor of the Year Award, the 1974, 1975, 1976, and 1983 recipient of the Sherman College Award of Outstanding Service, and he was also a certified member of The Florida Club by Palmer College of Chiropractic. Survivors include his wife, Corinne Gouron Thomas of Cannes, France; sons, Greg Thomas of Kansas City, KS, Stephen F. Thomas (Emily) of Greenville, SC, Jeff Thomas of Spartanburg, SC, Jeremy Thomas (Brittany) and Dustin Thomas, all of Pauline, SC; grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Emma, and Connor; brothers and sister, Rev. Robert Thomas (Joyce) of Augusta, GA, Ron Thomas (Leslie) of Fort Myers, FL, and Patricia Bauer (Tom) of Dunedin, FL; and nine nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ladonna Peterson. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Free Chapel, 500 Evangel Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Thomas and the Rev. James Peterson.
