Donald Davis

Donald T. Davis, 85, of Spartanburg, SC died Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his home. Born May 20, 1937 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Joe Henry and Mabel Zelle Upton Davis.

A US Army veteran, Donald was a self-made man and owner of Donald Davis Bags since 1958. Affectionately he was known as the “Bag Man.” He was a member of Converse Baptist Church. He loved and was devoted to his Lord and Family. A successful hard worker, he was a selfless man of great generosity and great humor. Don and Glennie loved to travel, especially with all of their grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Glennie Thompson Davis of the home; his daughters, Deborah Owens Lancaster (Crocket) and Pamela Owens Bryant (Joel) of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Trae Judy (Brie) of Columbia, SC, Heath Riddle and DeAnna Ramsey (Trent) of Spartanburg; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Joe E. Davis of Spartanburg, SC.

Visitation will be 1:45 – 2:45 pm Monday, October 17, 2022 at Converse Baptist Church, 325 Main Street, Converse, SC 29329. Funeral service with military rites will be 3:00 pm at the church, conducted by The Rev. Mike Davis, Mr. Trae Judy, The Rev. Chuck Thornton, and The Rev. Camden Bagwell. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
