Donald Smith, Sr.

Donald E. Smith, Sr., 78, of Clifton, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 13, 1931, in Poplar Springs, SC, he was the son of the late Odell O. and Pearlie Edge Smith. He was retired from Musgrove Mills and a member of Clifton First Baptist Church. He was past master and life member of Clifton Masonic Lodge #215 and a 32nd degree KCCH of the Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Mae Henard Smith; two sons, Eddie Smith and his wife Gina of Spartanburg, and Randy Smith and his wife Donna of Mayo; a grandson, Hunter Smith of Spartanburg; two sisters, Martha Burnett of Clifton, and Pat Pearson of Poplar Springs; and two brothers, Leon Smith and his wife Chris of Poplar Springs, and Haskell Smith and his wife Toshiko of Douglasville, GA. He was predeceased by two brothers, Herschel Smith and Vincent Smith. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel followed by funeral services conducted by the Rev. Michael Bradley and the Rev Clegg Taylor. Visitation will follow the service. A private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dr. Keith Taylor.
