Donald Pruitt

Donald George Pruitt, 82, of Whitney, SC, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 5, 1932 in Whitney, SC, he was the son of the late James Aubry and Ruth Edmunds Pruitt. He was married to his loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Geraldine Pruitt. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked in textiles as a Doffer and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include five daughters, Teresa Melton, Jr. (Carl), Kathy Bailey (Bill), Donna Sexton (Taylor), Sheila Bailey (Tommy), and Kimberly Pruitt; two sons, Donald Pruitt, Jr. (Brenda), and Brian Pruitt; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wilbur Pruitt (Barbara), and Jerry Pruitt (Sandra). A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Stone Station Baptist Church, 121 Walnut Grove Ln, Roebuck, SC 29376, conducted by the Rev. Larry Padgett. Visitation will follow after the committal service. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St. Ext., Roebuck, SC 29376.
