Donald Mckinney

Donald Dean McKinney, 77, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home. Born July 15, 1939 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late John Henry and Gladys Chaffin McKinney. Donald retired from Crown Cork and Seal after 38 years of service. He was a Charter Deacon of Chesnee Free Will Baptist Church who loved worshipping the Lord and singing in the choir. Spending time with his family and camping, he also worked puzzles and drawing. Donald was also known as the "Train Man" and the "Candy Man." He loved spoiling his grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Fowler McKinney; daughter, Pamela Bryson (Chuck) of Boiling Springs, SC; son, Jamie McKinney (Rebekah) of Chesnee, SC; daughter, Janie-Lynn Horne (Mark) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Austin Bryson (Sara); Cameron Bryson (Sonia); Samantha Hopper (Chad); Ty McKinney; Jake McKinney; Tristen Horne; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Hopper; brothers, Billy McKinney; Walker McKinney (Faye); sisters, Jo-Sandra Abbott (Johnny); Trish Baughcome (Kenneth); Betty Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Arthur. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2016 at Chesnee Freewill Baptist Church, 110 Dillon Street, Chesnee, SC 29323, conducted by the Rev. James Childers, Jr. and the Rev. Frankie Taylor. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
