Donald Grubbs

Donald William Grubbs, 74, of Roebuck, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at his home. Born August 9, 1938 in Woodruff, SC, he was the son of the late Jesse Ernest and Mattie Arnold Grubbs. A graduate of Pacolet High School, he attended the South Carolina Fire Academy and the National Fire Academy in Maryland. Mr. Grubbs retired as Assistant Fire Commander with the Spartanburg City Fire Department after 29 years of service, was the owner of Fireman Fence, and since 2002, has been an associate with the J. F. Floyd Mortuary. He was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Horizons Sunday School Class and an ordained Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Sandra H. Grubbs; son, Tad Grubbs and friend Allen Bolt of Spartanburg; daughter, Bliss Harley and husband Brad of Spartanburg; stepdaughter, Jennifer Rice and husband Mike of Columbia; stepson, Chris Holt and wife Dana of Easley; six grandchildren, Sabrina and Christen Harley, Michael and Charlotte Rice, and Nick and Drew Holt; brothers, Marvin and Wendell Grubbs both of Woodruff; sister, Nan Parrish and husband Dick of Woodruff; and mother-in-law, Gwen Israel of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 PM Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton.
