Donald Cox

Donald C. Cox, 59, of Spartanburg, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at the John S. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Born June 7, 1949, in Florence, SC, he was the son of Rita Welsh Cox of Spartanburg and the late Hugo L. Cox. After graduating McClenaghan High School, Don completed his degree in Political Science from Newberry College where he was a member of Blue Key Honor Society, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, and the Newberry Men's Council. Don was formerly employed with Milliken and Company, Peak Textiles, and Victaulic Company of America where he was a member of the Presidents Club. Surviving in addition to Don's mother are two sons, Patrick Alan Cox and Russell Wade Cox, both of Huntersville, NC; a brother, J. Hugh Cox and his wife Emily Finch Cox of Spartanburg; niece, Amanda Cox; and nephew, Brad Cox and his wife Caroline. His grandparents, Clement Wysong and Lula Gardner Cox and John Patrick and Elizabeth Grimshaw Welsh, predeceased Donnie. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Chris B. Snelgrove. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
