Donald F. "Donnie" Banks, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 1, 1933, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Reuben T. and Lillie Cooper Banks and husband of the late Dorothy Jean Phillips Banks. Mr. Banks was a United States Army veteran. He was retired from Duke Energy and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his grandchildren, Miranda Banks Collins (Sam Collins), Lindsay Banks Smith (Michael Smith), and Katie Banks, all of Inman, SC; great-grandchildren, Emily Collins, Logan Collins, Parker Collins, Michael Smith, Lorelai Smith, Savannah Banks, and Peyton Banks; and sister, Violet B. Farmer of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Donald Alan Banks; and the love of his life, JoAnn Lowe. Visitation will be 2:30-3:30 PM Friday, February 10, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 4:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Brent Dowis and the Rev. Kevin Jones. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
