Dolores Blackwell

Dolores "Dee" McBee Blackwell, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at her home. Born June 13, 1934, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Reatha Henderson McBee and wife, for 26 years, of the late Don Blackwell. A 1952 attendee of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and 1975 graduate of Blue Ridge Community College. Dee retired after 50 years in the field of nursing, including Skylyn Health Center and The Charles Lea Center. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, the Bertie Anthony Sunday School Class, and WMU. Surviving are her children, Marty Blackwell (Susie) of Greensboro, NC, Mark Blackwell (Cindy) of Pisgah Forest, NC, and Kim Blackwell of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Andrew Blackwell, Lauren Mirra, Reese Blackwell, Dana Blackwell, Daniel Sheppard and Johnny Sheppard; great-grandchildren, Madison, MacKenzie, Ramsi, Brody, Trystan, and Trayan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Carl McBee, Claude McBee, and Eugene McBee. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, October 12, 2015, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
