Dewitt Owens

Dewitt "D.C." Owens, 85, of Covington, GA, formerly of Spartanburg, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Newton Medical Center, Covington, GA. Born November 15, 1924 in Fayetteville, NC, he was the son of the late Lawrence Jesse and Dora Francis Bearden Owens. He was a retired electrician from Y.C. Ballenger, a member of Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church, a member of Drayton Masonic Lodge #360, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Inez Cannon Owens; a son, Gene Owens and wife Bonnie of Covington; two sisters, Virginia Dean of Spartanburg and Dorothy Buchanan of Rutherfordton, NC; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Masonic Rites will be at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Visitation will follow until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Bobo and the Rev. Edward Rogers. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
