Dewey Wilson Tomlin, 93, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center-ER. Born March 20, 1920, in Central, SC, he was the son of the late Frank Houston and Nellie Black Tomlin, and husband of the late Marita Burnett Tomlin. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Tomlin retired as Spartanburg City Street and Sanitation supervisor. He was a good Christian man who served his fellowman, a member of Arkwright Baptist Church, "Deacon Emeritus", deacon, and Sunday School teacher. Surviving are his daughters, Kay Gordon, Mary Lawson (Tom), and Deborah Tomlin; grandson, John Gordon; and three great-granddaughters. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by Dr. Richard Henderson. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association-Upstate SC, 2030 North Church Place, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
