Dewey Lanford

Dewey "Buddy" Marvin Lanford, 78, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at RoseCrest-Inman. Born March 24, 1938, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Robert Woodfin Lanford Sr. and Nannie Jennings Lanford. A 1957 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Buddy was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He retired after 40 years with Spartan Mills and worked part-time at Ingles on East Main Street in Spartanburg for a number of years. Survivors include nephews, Ed Toney of Inman, SC; Harold Toney of Boiling Springs, SC; nieces, Marian Akins of Stockbridge, GA, Debra Lanford of Conyers, GA, and Vicki Oliver of Tucson, AZ; one great-niece; and three great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Frances Lanford Duffie and Olga "Pete" Lanford; and a brother, Robert Woodfin Lanford Jr. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
