Dennis Roper

Dennis Wayne "Butch" Roper, 68, of Cowpens, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at Magnolia Manor-Spartanburg. Born April 15, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Beauford Randolph "Pete" and Louise Jordan Roper. He was married to the late Bonnie Gray Roper for 35 years. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Roper was retired from Univar USA Chemical Company, a member of VFW Post 9539, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his brother, William C. Roper of Stanley, NC; nephews, Jeff Roper (Kelly) of Iron Station, NC, and Keith Roper (Sybil) of Spartanburg, SC; niece, Karen Henley of Stanley, NC; great-niece, Alexis Henley of Stanley, NC; and a number of other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Eugene Roper. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Colman.
