Delacy Peeples Jr.

March 28, 1949 — July 26, 2014

DeLacy Vincent (Vince) Peeples, Jr., 65, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Palliative Care. Born March 28, 1949, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late DeLacy Vincent Peeples, Sr. and Mildred Allen Peeples. Mr. Peeples was the former owner/operator of "Peeples Choice" carpet cleaning. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and daughter. He was known for his culinary talents and always had something cooking on the stove. He loved his family, grandchildren, friends, and teaching Sunday School in the elementary department at the First Baptist Church for 30 years. He was loyal to all who loved him. Vince also attended Spartanburg Methodist College. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Laure Peeples Horn (Jimmy) of Lexington, SC; two granddaughters, Sutton Kennedy and Jensen Taylor Horn, both of Lexington, SC; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Peeples Dennis (Joe) of Beaufort, SC. A service of celebration will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. A reception will follow the service at The Country Club of Spartanburg, 2500 Country Club Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited Inc., One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120; or to a charity of one's choice. Floyd's North Church Street Chapel FROM THE FAMILY: Hello to all of Joe's and my dear friends and those that know Laure, Looks like my brother Vince and Laure's daddy has fought the best battle of his life but just didn't make it since his diagnosis with Congestive Heart Failure about four years ago. God had other plans. His wish for himself was not to be hooked up to life saving machines has been granted. He knew how important it was for his family not to see him suffering for days or months on end. Laure and I met with two doctors this morning and we granted Vince's wish. We are in a room in the Palliative Care of the hospital where Vince can die peacefully with us around. We have appreciated all your calls and emails for those I have been in contact with and to those who are hearing this for the first time, I know you will be keeping us in your prayers. There is nothing anyone can do at the moment. We are just waiting. The doctors are not able to tell us how much time we will have with Vince, every patient is different. Vince loved his time with Joe and me in Beaufort and our rescue dog Buster. He loved Laure and Jimmy and his two beautiful granddaughters, Sutton and Jensen who live in Lexington. He loved all his friends he made at Pine Street Elementary School and kept in contact with, to all his hunting buddies, to the last friend that he talked to or came by for a visit last week. He made sure Laure at an early age knew how to handle and shoot a gun, load and unload and clean a gun, use a bow and arrow to shoot turkey's, drive a boat, gig for frogs and flounder at midnight and drive a car. She excelled in every way in all. I hope there is a Viking stove in heaven where Vince can continue cooking and prepare those wonderful meals when he went hunting and fishing and cook up a good catfish stew and doves and gravy. Dr. Henry Kelley and his wife, Marilyn, came by to tell Vince goodbye this morning and we told great stories that covered over 30 years. I will tell you when Vince packs his guns and fishing poles and heads to the dove fields and the ponds and rivers he loved so much before he got sick. Mama and Daddy are waiting with open arms...saying "come on son, what took ya' so long" . All my love to each of you from the DeLacy Vincent Peeples Jr. family.
