Deavon Parton

Elmer Deavon Parton, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 11, 1939, in Durham, NC, he was the son of the late Dea and Gladys Mae Byers Parton. A U. S. Navy veteran (1956-1960), Mr. Parton was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He was retired from Yellow Freight and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Evelyn Mason Parton; son, Bradford Parton (Nikki) of Laurens, SC; sister, Shirley Cannon of Spartanburg, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Grace Baptist Church, by the Rev. Thomas Bryant and the Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 821 Whitlock Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
