Dean Taylor Israel, 70, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, at his residence after a brief hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on November 11, 1951 in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Billy James Israel, Sr. and Emily Taylor Israel.
Dean was retired from United Parcel Service after 35 years of service. He was a 1970 graduate of Dorman High School, was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing card games. Even more than golf and games, Dean loved his family. His daughters were the light of his life.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cindi Hewell Israel; daughters, Whitney Minutolo (Jeremy) of Spartanburg, Ansley “Sissy” Harrell (J.R.) of Yuma, AZ, Malorie Bersaglia of Spartanburg, and Kailee McClintock (Don) of Charleston; grandchildren, Reagan, Remi, Miley, Maddox, Rio, Jackson, Noah and Taylor; brothers, Billy Israel (Susan) and Marc Israel (Jennifer), all of Spartanburg; one niece and several nephews; and many golfing buddies.
The family will receive friends 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral Service will follow at 12:15 pm in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ray Hellings. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
