David Patrick Phillips

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Patrick Phillips, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, who passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 73 after a short illness. Born in Spartanburg on May 19, 1951, to the late Clint and Ruth Tucker Phillips.  

He was the beloved spouse of Mary Beth Phillips for 53 years, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. David spent much of his life dedicated to his love and passion for music as a drummer and a gospel singer, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was also a devoted follower of Jesus and generously shared his time and the gospel with his neighbors, friends and family.  

David is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Phillips; children, Josh Phillips with wife, Kim Phillips and Scott Phillips with, wife Kyle Phillips; grandchildren, Matthew Stachewicz, Haley Phillips and Alexandria Phillips; and brothers, Doug Phillips with wife, Mary Phillips and Terry Phillips with wife, Harriett Phillips. 

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29303, service will be conducted by the Rev. John Lee. Family will receive friends following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Beaumont Baptist Church.
