David Gabriel Gorton, 58, of Spartanburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He had recently moved to South Carolina and was enjoying a beautiful day working in his yard when he passed suddenly.
David was born on August 7, 1966, in Big Spring, TX, a son to the late Barbara Laurie Krafchik Gorton and Donald Richard Gorton.
David received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. He retired after a career as a Management Analyst, Solid Waste Division, at San Joaquin County in California.
David loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening, often with family and friends. He particularly enjoyed his time working as a mate on a charter boat on the west coast. David had a great sense of humor, amazing cooking skills, and a soft spot for his cats. Loved ones will miss his upbeat energy and sense of adventure.
David was reared in a family with longtime traditions in the Roman Catholic Church and in the Russian Orthodox Church. He was a member of the Order of Elks USA – Lodge 2025 in Arcadia, CA.
Surviving are his sister, Annie Gorton Lubinsky (Daryl) of Durham, NC; aunts and uncles Anita Ruth Grillo Gorton of Stratford, CT, Kathy Workman (Rutledge) of Spartanburg, SC, Peter Krafchik (Terry) of Anna Maria, FL; and cousins Eugene Gorton (Debbie), Bryon Gorton (Peggy), Glenn Gorton (Marianne), Nancy McClinch, Gary Gorton (Ann), Dean Gorton, Scott Gorton (Carolyn), Jeff Gorton (Karen), Greg Gorton (Carmen), Keith Gorton (Jung), Colum Kelly, Moira Kelly, Francis Kelly, Ann Sliva (Michael), Brendan Kelly (Irene), Mary Jenks, Oona Kelly, Terence Kelly, Norah Corn (David), Rosaleen Anderson, Julia Colbert (Patrick), Margaret Kelly, Erin Parker, Amy Andreano (Paul), and Nicholas Krafchik.
