Darlyn Pierce

Darlyn Fayne Whiles Pierce, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at her home. Born August 15, 1934, in Macon, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Whiles and Ethel Halliburton Whiles, and widow of Dr. Walter Vernon Pierce. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Pierce was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She loved babies and served in the New Prospect Nursery and was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Joy Club. She loved to travel and enjoyed going to the beach. Survivors include her children, Vicki Lancaster (Ron) of Spartanburg, SC, Dr. Walter Vernon Pierce, Jr. of Dravosburg, PA, and Tami Culig (Jeff) of Lake Helen, FL; grandchildren, Darlyn Lancaster, Amanda Waters (Jake), Stephen Lancaster (Alicia), Anthony Lancaster, Alexis Lancaster, Kristin Pierce (Triston), Zach Pierce (Emily), Elliott Pierce, Tyler Pierce, Jeffrey Culig, Chris Culig (Melinda), Randy Culig, Derek Culig (Jessica), Lyndsay Culig, Jesse Culig, Jeremy Culig, and Katie Culig; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Kohnert of Calamus, IA; and wonderful special friends, Marthanna Yater, Jean Ashley, and Fred Mihok. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Earl Orbin; and grandson, Wayne Lancaster. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at New Prospect Baptist Church, 9321 Hwy 9, Inman, SC 29349. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ron Gaddy and the Rev. Matthew Bishop. No flowers please, the family requests memorials be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
