Darlene Brooks

Gloria Darlene Brooks, 64, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born February 9, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, the daughter of Willie Jenkins Mahaffey of Spartanburg and the step-daughter of the late Ralph Mahaffey. Darlene enjoyed her family, friends, and her canine companions. She was a member of Westgate Free Will Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Spartanburg Blood Bank. In addition to her mother, survivors include her son, Brad Champion of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Lance Champion and Jade Champion of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Elaine Guest (Buddy) of Spartanburg, SC; nieces, Vonnie Stanton (Carolyn) of Greenville, SC and Carmon Burgess Hughes (Mark) of Duncan, SC; great-nieces and great-nephews, Zach, Morgan, Cerstein, Caleb, Courtney, and Lauren; and numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be 11:30 AM-12:45 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Westgate Free Will Baptist Church, 820 W. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Smith. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Westgate Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 219, Arcadia, SC 29320. The family is at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Buddy Guest, 8 Sally Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
