Daniel (Danny) Steele Wilson

Daniel (Danny) Steele Wilson, 70, of Moore, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Restoration Memory Care at Westgate. Born January 18, 1954, in Union, SC, he was the son Anne Sanders Wilson of Moore and the late Roy Steele Wilson.

Danny graduated from Spartanburg High School and was a 1976 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Spartanburg, where he was the president of the first junior and senior classes, a member of the golf team, and active in student government. Danny received the Founders Day Service Award in 1985 from the USCS Alumni Association.

He retired from UPS after 25 years of service and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. An avid turkey hunter and golfer for many years, he was also a member of Three Pines Country Club. Danny spent many years organizing and playing in church basketball and softball leagues. An outstanding pianist, Danny, played in numerous bands.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Sarratt Wilson; his children, Dan (Erin) Wilson of Charlotte, NC, and Katherine Wilson (Chris Gentile) of Beaufort, SC; and grandchildren, Hank Wilson, Meredith Gentile, and Knox Gentile. He’s also survived by his brother, Steve (Jan) Wilson and sister Lisa Wilson of Moore, SC.

The family will receive friends Monday, the 12th of February 2024 from 1-2:30 pm at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Harvey Gibert Sanders, III officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital at 950 Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605, or to a charity of one's choice. The family is at their respective homes.
