Daisy Meeks

Daisy Mabry Meeks, 90, of Pickens, SC, and formerly of Inman, SC, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at Redeemer Health and Rehab-Pickens. Born August 1, 1923, in Pacolet, SC, she was the widow of James W. Meeks and daughter of the late William and Othella Davis Mabry. Mrs. Meeks was the co-founder and co-owner of M&M Zoo (now Hollywild Animal Park) and a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Carolinda Worthy (Jimmy R.) of Greenville, SC, Rev. Jerry J. Meeks (Jo) of Spartanburg, SC, Joyce Meeks of Taylors, SC, and David Meeks (Lucia) of Wellford, SC; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one grandson. A service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Greenlawn Chapel by the Rev. Harold King.
