Constantin William Vaseliades

Constantin “Junior” William Vaseliades, of Spartanburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on May 27, 1938, to William and Eleni Mavrides Vaseliades. 

Constantin was best known as “Junior,” the co-owner and proprietor of The Deluxe Liquor Store for over 60 years. He was a graduate of Emory University and the University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy.

Surviving are his sister, Maria Vaseliades Papadopoulos and sister-in-law, Joan K. Vaseliades, both of Houston, TX; his nephews, William Lee Vaseliades and his wife Rosemary of Houston, TX, Dean Papadopoulos and his wife Cassidy of Charleston, SC, William Papadopoulos and his wife Pamela of Houston, TX; his nieces, Helena Papadopoulos Johnson and her husband Thomas of Houston, TX, Christina Papadopoulos Papandreou and her husband Alexander of Houston, TX, Eleni Vaseliades Jankosky and her husband Joe of Austin, TX.; great nieces and nephews, Joanna L. Vaseliades, Christos A. Papandreou, Anna Maria Johnson, L. Peter Vaseliades, Aphrodite A. Papandreou, William D. Johnson, Mary A. Papandreou, Michael L. Jankosky, Maria A. Papadopoulos and Constantine G. Papadopoulos.   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Leon William Vaseliades of Houston, TX and Achilles William “Bill” Vaseliades of Spartanburg, SC, his brother-in-law, Constantine Papadopoulos, of Houston, TX. and great nephew, C. Nicholas Papadopoulos.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 697 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29303 with the Trisagion Prayer service beginning at 10:45 am. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the church conducted by the Rev. George F. Nayfa. Entombment will follow in the Vaseliades family mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Pallbearers are William Vaseliades, Dean Papadopoulos, William Papadopoulos, Charles Hughes, Tommy Voliantis, Alexander Papandreou, Christos Papandreou and Thomas Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Johnson and Pano Stathakis.
