Connor Joshua Horton, 71, of Spartanburg, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at his home after a long illness. A native of Spartanburg, he was born February 13, 1942, a son of the late Zeb Vance and Inez Poteat Horton. Mr. Horton was retired from Spartanburg County, worked for Spartanburg Regional Hospital maintenance for a number of years, and was employed by Arrow Automotive for 26 years as a supervisor. He served with the U. S. Army Reserves for six years, was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church on Parris Bridge Road, and was also a Mason and Shriner. Surviving is his loving wife of 46 years, Christine Hudgins Horton; daughters, Cherie Christine Bailey (Kiney Barron) and Mitzi Nanette Profitt, all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Amanda Bailey, Joel Sherbert, Joshua Horton, Heather Profitt, and Connor Christopher Horton; great-granddaughter, Addison Sherbert; sister, Cornelia King of Forest City, NC; brother, George Horton (Marie) of Spartanburg; sisters-in-law, Ruby Horton and Louise Horton; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Frances Miller; and brothers, Richard, Benjamin, and Everette Horton. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Tim Hackett and the Rev. Fred S. Quidley. Burial will be in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, Boiling Springs, SC. Pallbearers are Joel Sherbert, Joshua Horton, Marty Horton, Steve Horton, Jim King, Van King, and Don King. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, 2058 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
