Connie Batten

Connie C. Batten, 75, of Goose Creek, SC, died Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Trident Hospital in Charleston, SC. Born February 2, 1938, in Gastonia, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Harold Costner and Gertrude Hughes Costner, and the widow of John P. Batten, Sr. She was a graduate of Kings Business School in Charlotte, NC and a retired accountant with Milliken Company in Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Batten was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Rebekah Sunday School class, who will serve as Honorary Escorts. Survivors include a daughter, Hope Batten of Goose Creek; granddaughter, Patricia Batten of Spartanburg; grand-dog, Lulu and grand-cat, Lucille, both of Goose Creek. She was predeceased by a son, John Patrick "Pat" Batten, Jr. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the sanctuary of Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
