Clytus Blanton

Clytus C. Blanton, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Wesley Court Assisted Living-Boiling Springs, SC. Born September 25, 1926, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Cornelia Bush Blanton and husband, for 50 years, of the late Bertha Adell Baytes Blanton. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Blanton retired from Mayfair Mills. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a Mason. Surviving are his children, Coleen Grigg (Donald) of Boiling Springs, SC, Cheryll Blanton of Pauline, SC, Darrell Blanton and Marty Blanton (Kim) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Kevin Thompson, Kelly Garner, Julie McCombs, Heather Beville, Trey Gaddy, Colton Blanton, Jessica Blanton, Halie Blanton, and Scott Guy; and great-grandchildren, Colby Garner, Caroline Garner, Chloe Garner, Chandler Thompson, Mazie McCombs, Violet McCombs, Riley Beville, and Ryland Gaddy. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Justin Blanton. A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2015, in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Fort Prince Rd., Wellford, SC 29385, by the Rev. Monty King. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
