Clyde Mckinney

Clyde J. "PaPa" McKinney, 94, was called home on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Born in Spartanburg County, December 16, 1919 and preceded in death by his beloved wife Sara McClure McKinney, his parents, Emma and Albert McKinney, brothers, Henry and Albert Jr., and sister, Fay Dunagin. He is survived by his loving family: son, Gene McKinney (Sylvia); grandchildren, Jeff McKinney (Tracy), Gena Klepin (Chris ); three great grandchildren, whom he adored, Jeffery and Laney McKinney, and Corey Klepin; and sister, Doris Bennett of Cannons Campground. A good Christian man, he loved God and his family. He was a member of United Baptist Church where he served as deacon, served on the building committee, and was also a member of The Young At Heart Club. He was a Mason and Shriner, retired from Thomas & Howard Company after 30 years of service, and served our country in Europe as a sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Baptist Church-Building Fund, 7319 Valley Falls Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
