Clifford Smith

Clifford Earl "Carrol" Smith, 74, of John B. White Sr. Blvd., died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home. Born July 24, 1936 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Vivian C. Smith. He was an employee of the City of Spartanburg and retired after 32 years of service as Assistant Superintendent of the Street Department. He formerly attended Green Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Jimmy Smith (Susi) of Pauline; two grandchildren, D. J. Addington (Leigh) and Dani Addington; two nieces, Cathy Smith of Fairforest and Hollie Smith of Knoxville, TN; and a brother, Harold Smith of Spartanburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Entombment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex. Visitation will follow the committal service at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Memorials may be made in his name to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
