Clayburn D. "Buck" Stone, 63, of 841 Zimmerman Lake Road, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at his home. Born August 12, 1947 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Amanda Grace Gowan Edge. He retired as an officer with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources after 23 years of service, was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. An avid outdoorsman and outstanding wing shot, he was a longtime committee member of the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund, a member of the Spartanburg Gun Club, the South Carolina Trap Shooting Association, a member of the Spartanburg Gun Club State Champion Trap Shooting Team some years ago, a member of Ducks Unlimited, and the National Wild Turkey Foundation. Survivors include his loving companion of 42 years, Delia "Dee" Daniels of the home; a brother, Phillip Stone and wife Linda and their children, Allison and Phil of Spartanburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold Daniels and wife Diane of Spartanburg, James Daniels and wife Linda of Glenn Springs, and Ed Hunt, of Spartanburg; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dottie Pack and husband Fred of Roebuck, Patty Elm and husband Earl of Greer and Betty Daniels of Spartanburg; four nieces, nine nephews, and thirty great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Donna Hunt. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard Thomas. Burial with military rites by the South Carolina DNR Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund, P. O. Box 2641, Columbia, SC 29202; or to Hunters for the Hungry, 507 Amelia Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
