Claudia Turner Bauman, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home. Born January 24, 1951 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Patsy Ann Bogan Turner and The Rev. Melvin Joseph Turner Jr.
Mrs. Bauman was a 1969 Dorman High School graduate. Claudia was Miss Spartanburg 1969, Miss South Carolina 1970, and 1st runner up Miss America 1971. A member of Joy Lutheran Church, she had a love of ministry of singing, along with gardening and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Robert Caldwell Bauman, Sr., her sons, Joshua Kenneth Wells (Amanda) of Spartanburg, SC, and Jonathan David Wells (Brian Kohut) of Anahiem, CA, her stepson, Robert Bauman, Jr. of Savannah, GA., her grandchildren, Gabriel Bauman, Carmen Wells, Caleb Wells, Keenan Wells, Cameron Wells, and Claire Wells, her sister, Cathy Litteral (David) of Spartanburg, SC, and her brother, David Turner (Todd Sellars) of Spartanburg, SC, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will schedule a Memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Appalachian Council of Governments, 30 Century Circle, Greenville, SC 29607.
The family would like to give special thanks to Michael, Annette, Debra, Diane, Kayla for their loving care given to Claudia.
