Claude Buford Thompson, 80, of 285 J. H. Stephens Road, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Born May 5, 1929, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Claude Buford and Carrie Hines Thompson. A graduate of Cecil's Business College, he was a retired supervisor with Spartan Mills. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Breeden Thompson; two sons, Keith Lyndon Thompson and his wife Jerri Jolly Thompson of Boiling Springs, and Kyle Venton Thompson of the home; a grandson, Blake K. Thompson of Boiling Springs; a sister, Rachell T. Henderson of Spartanburg; and two brothers, James B. Thompson of Chesnee, and Alton L. Thompson of Boiling Springs. He was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine Frances Thompson; three sisters, Kathleen T. Bryant, Grace T. Cooley, and Evelyn T. Brannon; and three brothers, Venton Thompson, Claude Edward Thompson, and Charles L. Thompson. Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael S. Hamlet and the Rev. Peter Fauerbach. Entombment with military honors will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Wayne Brady, Eddie Jolly, Bob Dean, Andrew Gallo, Alan Pruitt, and Donald Thompson. Honorary Escort will be members of the New Beginnings Bible Study Class.
