Clarence Rainey

February 21, 1917 — November 5, 2010

Clarence Wesley Rainey, 93, of 120 Ridgeway Road, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 21, 1917 in Starr, SC, he was the son of the late William Marvin "Jack" and Essie Brown Rainey. He was a retired county and district supervisor for Farmers Home Administration of the Department of Agriculture. He was a graduate of Anderson College and a 1939 graduate of Clemson College. He was a member of Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he was a former church treasurer, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher of the Men's Bible Class. He was past president of Westview Ruritan Club, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and a twenty seven year volunteer for Mobile Meals. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hicks Rainey; two sons, John Wesley Rainey of Barnwell, SC and Perry R. (Cindy) Rainey of Lexington, SC; two grandchildren, Cameron Rainey and Trip Rainey. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Peter A. Waid. Entombment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1801 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or World Witness Missions, One Cleveland Street, Suite 220, Greenville, SC 29601 or Mobile Meals Service, P.O.
