Clare Rolander

Clare Barbara Donner Rolander, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born April 28, 1922 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Carl Benjamin and Margaret Elizabeth Donner. Mrs. Rolander was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's School of Nursing in Niagara Falls, and a graduate of St. Joseph's Business College in Lockport, NY. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having once worked with the family of actor Dennis Morgan in La Canada, CA and later in Washington, DC. Along with being very busy with the Mobile Meals program as a volunteer for 20 years, and a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, she was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Bertil W. "Bert" Rolander; daughter, Renee Rolander (Walter) Douglass of Spartanburg; sons, Kevin Charles (Nancy) Rolander, of Spartanburg; Brett Patrick (Brenda) Rolander, of Springfield, VA; and Dana Eric (Missy) Rolander, of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Anne Walker Rolander, of Modest Town, VA. She was predeceased by a son, Barry Michael Rolander. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with visitation to follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 290 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
