Clara Nelson

Clara Francis Pertsch Nelson, 84, of Inman, SC, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Emeritus at Skylyn Place-Spartanburg. Born June 13, 1928, in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Fredrick and Clara Francis Tesar Pertsch. Mrs. Nelson loved her family. She was a graduate of Cornell University and a dedicated employee at the Inman Branch Library. Surviving is her loving husband, Richard Winthrop Nelson, Sr.; daughter, Wendy Nelson Griffin (Joel) of Boiling Springs, SC; son, Richard Nelson, Jr. (Karen) of Signal Mountain, TN; grandchildren, Erin Knight, Paul Griffin, Emily Griffin, Nathaniel Nelson, and Lucas Nelson; great-grandson, Griffin Knight; sister, Phyllis Marshall; and brother, Rodney Pertsch. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Fred Pertsch. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by Sharon Slone. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356; or Ronald McDonald House, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
