Christine Shook

Christine Elizabeth Blackwood Shook, 87, died December 4, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with her family by her side from lung disease and other complications following a hip fracture in August. She was born May 24, 1923, in Cherokee County, SC and was the daughter of the late Fred and Lillian Morris Blackwood. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School and received her R.N. degree from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She is survived by her husband, Carlos (Carl) Herschel Shook, Sr.; a son, Carlos Herschel (Chuck) Shook, Jr.; a daughter, Janet Lynn Shook; two grandsons, James Cameron and Evan Christopher Hambright; a sister, Caroleen Blackwood Brannon; and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Shook's contributions were many and her love and dedication to all who knew her will be terribly missed. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. The family will receive friends 1:30-2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Brian Arant.
