Christine Reid

Christine Pope Reid, 88, of 2902 East Main Street, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 7, 1920, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late J. W. and Rena Branch Pope and the wife of the late Charles R. Reid. She was formerly employed at the Spartanburg Council on Aging and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Blanton of Spartanburg; a brother, J. B. Pope of Roebuck; five grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, C. Larry Reid. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. David F. Ervin. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
