Cheryl Louise (Knittle) Brown, 71, passed on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Cheryl was born December 25, 1944, in Akron, OH, to the late Roy Edward and Tacie Isabel Knittle. Her husband William D. Brown; and sister, Laura Mae (Knittle) Gane preceded her in death. Cheryl leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Karen M. Painter of Pauline, SC and Gary E. Sloan (Kay) of Peachtree City, GA; four grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Kayla and Piper; niece and nephew, Kelly and David Gane of Florida; a brother-in-law, Mike Zimmerman (Yuyan); her pets, Max and Pikachu; her Michelin family; her Church family; and many great friends. Cheryl graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, OH in 1962. She worked at Ravenna Oil Co. in Ravenna, OH; Mulligan's Propane Gas in Fremont, OH; Draper Corp. in Spartanburg, SC; and retired from Michelin North America in Spartanburg, SC after 25 years and 4 ½ years as a returning retiree. Cheryl loved reading, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, loving mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. "To know her was to love her." Cheryl was an Elder at West Springs Presbyterian Church in Glenn Springs, SC. She loved her church family and was a very dedicated member. The family will host a Celebration honoring Cheryl's life at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church, 6001 Hwy 215, Glenn Springs, SC 29374, with the Rev. Dr. B. E. Pettit officiating. Cheryl chose cremation. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
