Cherie Jean Elias, age 66, of Collierville, TN, and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with breast cancer.
A native of Spartanburg, SC, Cherie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a strong woman of faith. She was a fierce fighter and maintained her resilience through her unique quick wit and humor. Cherie’s will and determination was a reflection of her unyielding devotion to her family.
Born June 30, 1956, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Fred Elias and Jean Cash Elias. She was a 1974 graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Columbia College. Cherie spent years in retail and was the owner of Cherie’s Kids, a children’s clothing store. She also spent years working at Jeri’s Shoes, alongside her father.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Sessoms Barrow (Jay) of Collierville, TN: three grandchildren, Madison Barrow, Hailey Barrow, and Allyson Barrow, and her dearest friend, Joe Sessoms.
Cherie was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katelyn Elias Barrow.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, Friday, April 28, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
