Charlotte Boggs

Charlotte Jennings Boggs, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Boggs, Jr. and Martha Glen Barksdale Boggs, and granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Downs Barksdale of Spartanburg, SC. For many years Miss Boggs was the owner of The Spunky Munky, a fashionable children's clothing store in Spartanburg, and at the time of her death, she was the office manager for Irwin Paint Company. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent where she formally served on the Altar Guild. Miss Boggs was a member of The Tea and Topics, Too Book Club and The Assembly. She was a past member of the Junior League of Spartanburg, The Colonial Dames of America, and Board member of Safe Homes. Surviving are her brothers, Erving Weeks Boggs and wife Susan, and Glen Barksdale Boggs II and wife June; nephews, Cameron Grant Boggs and wife Tiffany, and Thomas Edgar Boggs IV; a great niece and nephews; her God-children, Keane, Lucy, Alex, and Jenny; and her good and faithful dog, Maggie. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Edgar "TEB" Boggs III. She was a devoted daughter to her late parents, loving sister to her brothers and sisters-in-law, and a cherished, giving friend to many. She will be greatly missed. Following a private interment, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, August 24, 2012, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, the Rev. J. Edward Morris officiating.
