Charles Young

Charles Allen Young, 70, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Levine & Dickson Hospice Center, Charlotte, NC. Born March 18, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late George Dewey and Lula Mae Simmons Young. After graduating Spartanburg High School and the University of South Carolina, Allen proudly retired from Ford Motor Company after a distinguished 34 year career. Survivors include his two sons, Wes Young (wife Lorie) of Houston, TX, and Richard Young (wife Kristi) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Sydney and John of Houston, TX, and Courtney, Brooke, and Bailey of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sisters, Linda Roddy of Boiling Springs, SC, Kay Arthur and Ann Moore, both of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Robert W. Young of Spartanburg, SC; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Cantrell; and brothers, George C., James E., and John T. Young. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, May 13, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Clint Pressley. Visitation will be at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28215.
