Charles Winstead

On Monday, May 14, 2012 at 5:15 PM, Charles Dean "Beanie" Winstead, of Pacolet, SC, went home to be with the Lord. Born July 1, 1946, in Pacolet, he was the son of the late Clay and Ruth Odell Winstead. A graduate of Fruitland Bible College, Mr. Winstead was a self-taught certified electrical engineer and retired as an electrical maintenance engineer from Milliken and Company after 35 years of service. He was a pastor to many and loved serving his Lord in every calling. He was a 7-year veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard and loved taking his grandchildren camping. Survivors include his wife, Linda Gayle Albright Winstead; son, Charles "Mark" Winstead (Freedom) of Pacolet; daughter, Dana Michelle Filion (Andy) of Burlington, VT; grandchildren, Molly McKinley Winstead and Emily-Kate Winstead, both of the home, and Mira Leigh Filion of Burlington, VT; brothers and sisters, William Edward Winstead of California, Clay Eugene Winstead of Pacolet, Betty Elizabeth Rector of Gaffney, Dorothy Anette Burns of Pacolet, John Lynn Winstead of Gaffney, Bobby Ray Winstead of Jonesville, Linda Gail Davis of Jonesville, and Roger Dale Winstead of Gaffney. He was predeceased by brothers, James Paul Winstead of Gaffney and David Keith Winstead of Pacolet. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Smith, the Rev. Jimmy Ramsey, and eulogy by Mrs. Lucy Crocker. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Baptist Church, 132 Quarter Round Road, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family is at the home.
