Charles Stephen "Steve" Ware, Sr., 68, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. The youngest of eight children, he was born March 6, 1947, in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Charles Lindsay and Marie Joseph Branham Ware. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Ware's family was most important in his life and he enjoyed making the famous family chili mix. He was a member of the Spring Street Connection Barber Shop Quartet which performed in national competitions. He retired from Nestle in Gaffney, SC after 26 years of service and was a graduate of Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. A member and Lector at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, he was loved by many and will be missed by all. Surviving are his wife of over 45 years, Diane Franz Ware; children, Angie Clardy (Alan) of Greenville, SC, Charles Stephen Ware, Jr. (Mary) of Atlanta, GA, and Theodore "Teddy" Ware of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jack Clardy, Ruby Kate Clardy, and Charles Stephen "Charlie" Ware, III; brother, Thomas Clayton Ware (Judy) of Lookout Mountain, TN; sisters, Patricia Ware Robertson and Margaret Ware Schoenhoff (Robert) of Louisville, KY; as well as 29 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. David R. Whitman and the Rev. Mr. Robert L. Mahaffey. Military rites will be provided by the U. S. Navy Honors Team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 2030 North Church Place, Spartanburg, SC 29303 online at www.lungsc.org. The family is at the home of Diane Ware.
