Charles E. Sams, 85, of Clifton, died Wednesdsay, January 13, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center. He was born February 17, 1935 in Glendale, a son to the late Everette and Estelle McKinney Sams. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 plus years, Amanda Attaway Sams. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, retired from Mayfair Mills, and was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Charles stood strong beside his 4 step-children. The most important thing to Charles was his Salvation and then his family and their Salvation. He was a very loved man, not only by his family, but anyone who met him. He always had a smile on his face and love in his heart. He loved singing gospel songs here on Earth. Now he is singing in Heaven! Charles is survived by his step-sons, Danny Attaway (Margaret) and Clifton Attaway (Lee); a brother, Robert E. Sams; sisters, Alice R. Tutterrow (Joe) and Katie Teeler (Jimmy); a beloved brother-in-law, George Hunter; a step-grandson, Adam Attaway (Jerri); 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a step-son, Charles Attaway (Debbie); a step-daughter, Linda Ross; and sisters, Sarah M. Long, Mary J. Bennett and Nellene Hunter. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021, at Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery Street, Cowpens, SC 29330, conducted by the Rev. Daniel Blackwell.
