Charles Plemmons

Charles "Chuck" Douglas Plemmons, 45, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Born May 19, 1972, in Spartanburg, he was the son of William Thomas Plemmons and Shelby Cox Plemmons of Spartanburg. Chuck was a 1990 graduate of Dorman High School and 1994 graduate of the College of Business-University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. He was the owner/operator of Chuck Plemmons Perennials/Plemmons Westview Greenhouse and was affectionately known as "The Hostaman". A supporter of Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve, a founding member of the Hosta Society of South Carolina, he was also a supporter of rescue animals and a longtime supporter of Dorman High School Cavalier football. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kimberley Dawn Blackwell Plemmons and children, Dakota Jackson Plemmons and Savannah Nicole Plemmons, all of the home; brothers, David Cox Plemmons of Spartanburg, SC and Thomas Wilbur Plemmons (Vicki) of Inman, SC; as well as nieces and nephews, Kelly Geddes (Michael), Emily Plemmons, Jacob Plemmons (Erin), Sarah Plemmons, and Leo Kingsley. A service honoring his memory will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve, 820 John B. White Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by The Rev. Seth Buckley and The Rev. Carroll Plemmons. Visitation will follow in the Garden of Hope and Healing. Several hosta's introduced by Chuck will be donated and planted in the Robert Odom Hosta Garden at Hatcher Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials (for the children's education) may be made to the Plemmons College Education Trust, c/o SunTrust Bank, 350 East Henry Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
